My name is Dr. Debra Gill. I am a clinical psychologist (PhD from UCLA) and an Amazon best-selling author. For 30 years, I’ve been providing therapy and coaching that has helped my clients meet their goals and grow more skilled in managing feelings, anxieties, relationships, body image, eating, health and weight.
My style is highly interactive and focused on making sure you gain something valuable from every session we share. The kind of psychotherapy I practice—a combination of modern Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)—is concerned with improving people’s awareness, clarity, inner peace, compassion, and effective behavior. This means you will learn new skills and strategies essential for your well-being as well as lasting habits of self-care, self-soothing, and self-talk that is supportive rather than critical.
One of my specialty areas is that of close relationships. I have helped my clients be more effective and more true-to-themselves in all phases of relationship--including beginnings, endings and in-between. For example, my clients have used our therapy: to decide whether and when to seek divorce, to manage the emotional and practical sides of divorce, to gain confidence and create a path towards a new life, to navigate dating, and to figure out what they want and how to get it in the areas of romance, love, and sex.
